It's Been A Long Time . . .

It's been a long time since I have blogged.  I have been maintaining my weight for the last several weeks.

It has been hard with all the meetings and all the traveling I have been doing.  I have added some walking to my weekly routine and if I'm just hangin around the house I try to walk up and down the steps more than I need too.  I need to get more motivated and get back on track and walk daily.  It makes you feel so much better.  Unfortunately old man winter is on his way and that puts a big damper on outside walking.

In other exercise news, I can't believe my daughter blew me off in the Gettysburg and REFUSED to go to the gym with me.  The nerve of her. . .

Results of the Monday WEIGH INS

Sorry, was to busy to blog yesterday.  Mondays are always an exciting day for me, "Its weigh Ins".  Wasn't real sure how the morning was going to go.  I have stuck to my diet ever since starting it.  Saturday Night after the Richland Rumble Run I celebrated by eating a turkey hoagie.  I wasn't sure how this was going to affect my diet, everything on the hoagie was good for me except the roll.  But I was tired and didn't want to run for a salad.  The results you ask . . . better than I anticipated I was down 5 pounds this week.  Only 4 more till my goal weight.  I could not believe how close I am coming to my next goal.

Ty and I discussed reaching my goal and maintaining  the weight loss.  I can now change up my diet a little bit at a time.  I also need to add some exercise, not a lot, but some as to work off the carbs that I am aloud to havein moderation.  This means when I order a steak salad I will not have to pick off the cheese and fries.  I will stick to my fat free dressing thou.

I plan to start using the ab lounger twice a day along with a walk twice a day also.  Next week it time to pull out the old faithful wii fit and see if I the *&^%( still tells me I am obese; LMOA

The Time Has Come

As many of you know I was having back problems, I met Dr. McKloskey at a fundraiser meeting for Local Veterans.  I talked with him about his office and agreed to call and make an appointment. . . The next month at our meeting he informed me he still hasn 't seen my name on his appointment schedule.  I again told him I would call the office.  I pulled up his office on the web and discovered that his office also had a weight loss program that dealt with blood sugar levels.  So I called and made two appointments instead of one.

I was informed Mrs.McKloskey (Ty) took care of the weight loss.  She has been a god send.  We agreed that I would start when I got home from the beach.  I weigh in once a week with Ty and she is there for support and encouragement.  If I have questions she is there with answers.

On August 6th, I met with my family doctor to go over my newest blood work.  My A1C in January was 6.3, in August it was a 5.6.  I could not believe it when he told me he was taking me off the Diabetes List.  This was the best news I could ever here.  He was alittle shocked to hear that I had just started in June and not in January.

I accomplished all this in just 6 short weeks.  With a little work and dedication anyone can accomplish their weight loss goals.

Many people try to drop the pounds for the wrong reasons.  You have to do it for yourself and nobody else.

June 2012

The beginning to beating a terrible disease.

Diabetes is an aweful disease.  Some handle it with medication, others shots and a few even have pumps so they don't have to deal with injections.  If this is not monitored closely, people have been know to loose toes and legs.  I decided I didn't want to belong to this group. So when my family doctor told me I was pre-diabetic we decided to try and handle this with diet.  I was not real happy to be told I would have to check my sugar levels even if it was only every other day. My husband is out of town all week with work and he wasn't as supportive as  I had hoped he would be.  It was just another problem I would have to learn to deal with on my own just like everything else. This was in January 2012.  My AIC Score was 6.3.

February came along with March, April, May and June. . .diet still the same, but hey I still have till August when the new blood work is done.  I still have plenty of time.  (how often have we all said this to ourselves, too many)

Getting Started

Getting Started. . .It is the hardest thing in the world to do.  I have been struggling with my weight for 26 years.  Pregnacy does this to many women. . .some drop the weight immediately and some struggle for years.  Encouragement is a wonderful motivater, but when know one is around to back you up it is very hard.  Excess weight effects everyone differently. . . some don't care. . .some go through bouts of depression and lack of self esteem.  Public opinion is everyone should be skinny. . . if only it was that easy.
